Gratitude > Perfection

Thankful for the little joys/wins in my life. 🎄✨Year after year I watch the holidays bring out the best and worst in people. We live in a world that has lost sight of what’s important. Where outward appearance matters more than character. Where staying skinny takes priority over a holiday meal. Where a man’s attention means more than loving yourself.

Currently my social media is filled with a lot of this:

“Why you need a holidate”

“How to lose 20 pounds by Christmas”

“How to make your ex jealous when you see him at your hometown bar”

“How to stay summer skinny year round”

As Christmas creeps around the corner I’d like to raise the question of what’s really important this holiday season? A few things come to mind for me, and it’s not the lies social media tells me. Family, Life, Jesus. Those are the things I’m thankful for. Just like a table is empty until it’s filled with guests, so is your heart until you fill it with love.

What if we decided as a collective that it was more important to be a better human than a pretty, skinny, or hot one? (yes I know this coming from the girl who posted bikini pics all throughout college…character development just hear me out)

What if your social media looked more like this:

“How to take better care of the planet”

“How to prioritize your mental health”

“How to love myself despite my flaws”

“How to embrace my God given body”

As you scroll, remember that social media is a highlight reel, and true joy isn’t found in appearance, it’s found on the inside. The harsh reality is you might be the prettiest girl in the room with the ugliest heart. It’s not about how you look, even if society argues that it is—but how you love yourself, and how you love others. Grace, gratitude, joy, peace >  perfection. ☮️
